Thank you, teachers!

Thank you and a smiley face is written in chalk on a blackboard. In the foreground is an apple next to a small pile of books with daisies, a small stapler and pencil sharpener, and an upright container which stores scissors, a ruler and pens.

One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world." - Malala Yousafzai, Activist

There are over 973,000 people working in schools in England as teachers, teaching assistants and other support roles. At Teachers Together, we wholeheartedly support our partners and members in their mission to shape future generations and equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

Teaching is often described as more than a job; it’s a calling. Educators dedicate themselves to their craft, often working long hours and going above and beyond to ensure their students receive the best education possible. They invest their time, energy and passion into creating a nurturing learning environment that fosters growth and development.

On “National Thank A Teacher Day”, we’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate and express our gratitude to these remarkable educators who inspire, motivate and empower students to reach their full potential. Their influence extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the very fabric and future of our society.

The team at Teachers Together would like to pay a tribute to the teachers who influenced our own lives:

Adam: “The teacher who left a massive impression on me and that I still remember to this day is my Year 6 teacher, Mr Thompson. He was fun but firm and always said, “If you respect me, I will give you the same respect back” - and I certainly felt that was true in my case. He made me captain of the school football team and we went on to win district and county championships.”

Rachael: “My Year 5 teacher, Mr Pickering, had a huge influence on me during a very challenging period of my life. He encouraged me to explore my creative side and inspired in me a love of history which I eventually went on to study at university. His bond with my family was such that he even came to my wedding!”

Olly: “After years of working in education recruitment, my admiration for teachers and school support staff grew even stronger during the first COVID lockdown as I was faced with the prospect of taking on the role of educator to my then 5-year-old daughter! The teachers at her school were absolutely fantastic and I had conversations with many head teachers who shared how they were working tirelessly to ensure families had access to technology and creating engaging learning experiences while understanding the pressures parents were facing. This personal experience deeply influenced the ethos of Teachers Together and reaffirmed the importance of our work. I am immensely grateful to all school staff for their incredible dedication and the amazing work they continue to do each day."

To all the teachers out there, thank you for your unwavering commitment, dedication and passion. Your efforts leave an indelible impact on the lives of countless students and we honour and appreciate your invaluable contributions.
