Friday 26th September marks National Teaching Assistants' Day 2025, and at Teachers Together, we want to shine a spotlight on the dedicated education support staff – Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, and SEND Support professionals who make such a difference in classrooms.

Beyond the Job Description

While job descriptions might list "classroom support" and "pupil assistance," the reality is far richer. Education support staff are the bridge-builders, the confidence-boosters, and often the difference between a child feeling lost or feeling seen. They provide that crucial additional layer of support that helps every student thrive.

In 2025's educational landscape, where schools face ongoing challenges with resources and staffing, these roles have become even more essential. They're not just supporting - they're innovating, adapting, and ensuring no child is left behind.

The Ripple Effect of Great Support Staff

Every great support staff member creates positive ripples that extend far beyond their immediate classroom:

  • Teachers can focus on delivering outstanding lessons knowing additional needs are expertly supported

  • Students develop confidence through personalised attention and encouragement

  • School communities become stronger when every child feels valued and understood

  • Parents see their children flourish in environments where support staff provide that crucial extra layer of care

Supporting Excellence Through Partnership

At Teachers Together, we see first-hand how exceptional support staff strengthen classrooms. That's why we're committed to supporting education support professionals with:

  • Fair compensation, enhanced holiday pay and pension contributions via PAYE (we do not use umbrella companies)

  • Free specialist in-person and online training

  • Career development opportunities that recognise support staff as education professionals

  • Transparent working relationships where your expertise is valued, not just your availability

The Heart of Every Classroom

This National Teaching Assistants' Day, we're reminded that in the heart of every classroom, education support staff ignite the spark of learning. You're the ones who turn policy into practice, who make inclusion real rather than rhetoric, and who prove daily that education is fundamentally about human connection.

To everyone in these vital support roles reading this: your work makes a real difference. You're not just assisting - you're supporting learning, building confidence, and helping students succeed every day.
